Blank Canvas
The identity before reaches out
black arms
shadow hands
grabbing at
pulling back
the identity to be.
I'm in between
passive
watching it play out
fear roots my stone feet
I close tired eyes
I hear silence
tired of stuck
I inhale deep
a fire lights within.
Exhaling
eyes open
the space around is lit
ribbons of colour.
Tentatively I pluck
turning, folding my here through the fingers
the identity before pauses
I've struck a cord.
Fear moves
from my feet
mouth opens
"no. stay small."
I pluck another ribbon
weaving it with the first
I move forward
the identity before stuck behind
mouth open
"no. don't leave me."
pleading
fearful eyes
"I need you.
I don't want to be alone."
I turn
facing fear
I whisper
colours swirl
"I'm not leaving.
I am growing."
"You are loved.
Always a part of me."
Blank canvas
black slate
identity before
identity to be
the in between
my here to create.
